What’s Happening at Hollymead?
Collect your Box Tops!
The Box Tops Fall Season has commenced! Do you have Box Tops for Education that can be collected to raise money for Hollymead Elementary School? Now is the time to send them to school! There is a collection tub on the table inside the front door next to the office. Please have your children bring their Box Tops to school for drop off. We will be collecting Box Tops until October 23rd, but the earlier you send them in, the better. Be sure to check expiration dates as November 1st, 2017 is our target for this collection; any Box Tops with this date and beyond will be valid for collection.
Stay tuned for further updates, including a possibility for volunteers to help. Thanks for your participation!
Art Print Training
For those interested in Art Print Training, there will be a training on October 9th from 2:45-3:30 in the library. At the training, we will go over the Meet the Master’s art print program that is available for volunteers to use to implement their lessons. We also have many supplies for the art projects.
If you’d like to attend, please contact Mrs. Foster at mfoster@k12albemarle.org .

A Note from Your PTO
Dear Parents,
Did you know that Albemarle County Public Schools has a Parent Council? As PTO President and Vice-President, we both serve on this council. The mission of the Parent Council is to serve as a forum for parents, educators, and school officials to share ideas and exchange information in order to further advance the quality of the public education system. We meet once a month in various schools around the county. We will share the information we learn once a month via Hornet Happenings and at Parent Community Chats.
Last week we met and heard about the many ways our district supports the mental health of our students by the joint efforts of Region 10, UVA, and our school psychologist and counselors. We also learned about the redistricting committee and the Woodbrook Elementary School expansion. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, or you can visit the Parent Council website for more information, ACPS Parent Council.
Gratefully,
Your PTO President and Vice President,
