What’s Happening at Hollymead?
NEW Hornet Helper Day
“Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.” – Howard Zinn
It is in this spirit that all Hollymead Hornets will come together on Thursday, November 9th to participate in our first ever Hornet Helper Day. All students will be cutting and tying fleece blankets for the patients at the UVA Children’s Hospital and making craft cards for the recipients of Meals on Wheels. We will also have a food drive for the Meals on Wheels Blizzard Bags.
Volunteers are needed to help on November 9th. A sign-up genius will be sent next week.

A Note from Your PTO
President’s Message
The PTO would like to thank Amy Cochran, mom to Brayden (2nd) and Maddie (4th), for volunteering her time to Hollymead and the PTO over the last four years. In addition to spending a lot of time helping in Maddie and Brayden’s classrooms, Amy has co-chaired the book fair the last two years, helped with both spring and fall picture days, and has always been willing to help whenever needed. Amy and her husband, Darian, own and operate Avenue Realty, in addition to the time they spend coaching baseball and helping with the Charlottesville Ballet. Thank you, Amy, for all you do to make Hollymead a great place for our kids.
PTO Pride—Thank you!
A huge thank you goes to our Book Fair team lead by Amy Cochran, Vanitha Perumal and London Liebengood. This year was a huge success with lots of excited students, many books donated to teacher classrooms, and money raised for the Hollymead library. Thank you also to Jenn Dettmer, who graciously coordinated the Bingo Night and Bake Sale during Night at the Book Fair.
Many thanks to all of the families who supported these events, and to the many volunteers who gave their time and energy to help throughout during the entire week.
