What’s Happening at Hollymead?

Come celebrate NO SCHOOL by enjoying a sweet treat on Friday, October 27th from 4:00-10:00pm! Let them know that you’re there to support Hollymead Elementary School and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to the Hollymead Elementary PTO.

Kids Night Out at ACAC

Hollymead Families!

Our annual PTO Kids Night Out at ACAC’s Adventure Central for Hollymead students is here! Plan a date night, get some shopping done, or simply relax with some alone time – all while your kids are enjoying themselves with their friends at ACAC on Friday, November 10, from 6-9pm. The event will include structured activities, free play in the Big Room, sports, crafts, and a pizza dinner.

The registration form is included below and will be sent home with students this week. To participate, please fill out the form and send it back to school, along with payment,
by Friday, November 3.

The cost for the event is:
$25 for one child
$40 for two children
$50 for three children
$60 for four children

Payment can be made with cash, check (payable to ACAC) or by indicating your ACAC member account number to charge it to your account. This event is open to ALL Hollymead students, and not just ACAC members. Proceeds benefit the Hollymead PTO.

Reminders

Hornet Helper Day – November 9th

Help the life of one person and you can help a community. – Steven Sawalich

All Hollymead Hornets will come together on Thursday, November 9th to participate in our first ever Hornet Helper Day. All students will be cutting and tying fleece blankets for the patients at the UVA Children’s Hospital and making homemade cards for the recipients of Meals on Wheels. We will also have a food drive for the Meals on Wheels Blizzard Bags.

A Note from Your PTO

The ACPS Parent Council monthly meeting is an opportunity for PTOs to connect and share ideas and information. This month, fundraising and the challenges it faces, emerged as a major topic. Next, the Council was introduced to four county employees who work directly with ACPS. Darva Miller (HR), Phil Giaramita (Communications), Tim Shea (Legislative Liaison), and Jody Saunders (Media and Community Outreach) each gave a brief overview of their position and spoke to how it furthered the ACPS overall mission.

Thanks to Jeff Eldred for his hard work coordinating and managing the Box Tops Collection drive this Fall. Jeff and his son have spent a great deal of time over the past few weeks to ensure all of the collected box tops were cut and counted accurately. Thank you!
