What’s Happening at Hollymead?
Hornet Helper Day – November 9th
In the spirit of kindness, service to others, and team building, Hollymead Hornets will come together next week to tie fleece blankets for UVA Children’s Hospital and make homemade cards and collect nonperishable food items for Meals on Wheels. We are still looking for a few more volunteers.
If you can volunteer your time to help us, click here.

Young Entrepreneurs Night—December 1st
Calling all Junior Entrepreneurs!
This is your chance to share your million-dollar idea. All Hollymead students are invited to participate in the PTO’s Young Entrepreneur Fair on Friday, December 1st from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Set-up will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Use your imagination and best business sense to create a product or service that you can sell to fellow students and families! In the past, we’ve had students sell their homemade crafts, holidays gifts, and baked goods – the possibilities are limitless! All items should be priced at $5 or less.
To participate, please register by Monday, November 27th. We strongly encourage students to sign up in pairs (space is limited).
You can find the registration form here: Young Entrepreneur Registration
Questions can be directed to Bethany Teachman (bat5x@virginia.edu) or Kathy O’Connell Hines (write2kathy2@gmail.com).

PTO Volunteer Spotlight: Vanitah Perumal
With her oldest son in 10th grade and her youngest in 1st grade, Vanitha Perumal has been a Hollymead volunteer for 5 years and counting. Vanitha has been a book fair co-chair for the last two years and is responsible for helping with photocopies for Thursday folders. She also keeps the front marquee updated—rain, snow, or shine. Vanitha is always willing to help wherever needed. When not at Hollymead, Vanitha likes to cook, paint, and spend time traveling and camping with her husband, Venkat, and their children. Going to UVA games and watching football are a few other activities Vanitha enjoys with her family. Vanitha enjoys giving back to the community and also volunteers at the local soup kitchen and Salvation Army. Thank you, Vanitha, for all you do for Hollymead and our community!
Thank you from the PTO!
