PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! We are excited to start the 2018-2019 school year! If you are new to Hollymead, welcome!! We are a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, and administrators who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children. Everything we do is based on volunteers and we are always looking for those of you to help make a difference in the lives of our children. If you are able to give some time, day or evenings, please reach out to Jill and Amy, our volunteer coordinators, at hollymeadptovolunteer@gmail.com.

Our first event this year is a Movie Night on September 7th at 7:30. Save the date and we’ll have more information coming home soon. We look forward to getting to know you and encourage you to check out our website, Facebook, and Instagram (see bottom of our newsletter for our social media links). Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a question or suggestions of ways we can better serve you and your family.

PTO GRATITUDE

PTO Thanks the many volunteers, staff, and teachers who worked endless hours to get Hollymead ready for the return of students! Rochelle Keshap, Allison Agarwal, and volunteers donated, organized, and served a yummy brunch to the staff on August 20th. Stephanie and Erik Boynton managed, organized, and delivered school supplies to classrooms. Thank you!

ATTRACTIONS BOOK FUNDRAISER


The Attractions Dining & Value Guides will be sent home on September 6th. These Attractions books continue to have some exciting new coupons and discounts, including local businesses and family favorites. By purchasing these books for yourself or family members, you are helping to fundraise for the Hollymead PTO.

Please return or pay for your books by September 27th. There will be an opportunity to pay, return, and purchase additional books at the PTO movie night on September 7th.

After School French Program

AFTER SCHOOL FRENCH PROGRAM

FRENCH FOOD and GAMES? Oui, Oui!
Come learn French in a fun and exciting atmosphere at Hollymead!

Students will “Build a French City”, exploring le marché while purchasing their veggies and fruits with Euros, eating in a café français, playing Pétanque in le parc, staying in l’hôtel, buying bread and pastries at la boulangerie, sending letters from la poste, and more!

Monday afternoons from 2:40-3:40 for 10 weeks. Total cost is $150, all fees included. Students must enroll for all 10 classes. Checks should be made payable to Hollymead and turned in to the office by Wednesday, September 5th. No French experience required.

Classes begin Monday, September 10th.

Classes will be taught by Michelle Katstra, director of School Programs for the Alliance Française of Charlottesville and a mom of 3 kids who all attended HES, and Stephanie Hall, who hails from Québec and also has 3 kids who all attended HES! Questions? mkatstra@gmail.com
