What’s Happening at Hollymead?

Monday, January 29, 6:30pm to 7:30pm, Hollymead Library

Do you know what a Sphero is? Has your child talked about the code that they wrote to make the robot move, light up or make noise? Mrs. Lisa King and Ms. Joette Crone will demonstrate the many ways that our students use a variety of technology to nurture their imaginations, work collaboratively, learn programming skills and complete hands on activities.

Following the Chat time, we will have a brief PTO meeting.
Refreshments and a raffle will be provided!

After-School PE Games: Floorball Update

FLOORBALL REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN AND FILLING FAST!

Floorball is available to Hollymead students in grades 3-5. Classes will meet on Tuesdays from January 30th –February 27th in the Hollymead gym with Mr. Carroll from 2:35-4:00pm. Cost is $60 for 5 weekly sessions.

Registration is limited to 24 students. First come first serve.

Mr. Carroll and Mr. Whitehead anticipate offering a spring session of Marvelous Mondays (for grades K-2) and Terrific Tuesdays (for grades 3-5) in March.

Hollymead Heritage Festival, January 26^th

The annual Heritage Festival is only two days away! Come join us at Hollymead THIS Friday, January 26th from 6:30pm-8:30pm. We will celebrate the many cultures and ethnic backgrounds represented in our school and in our community. This will be a great opportunity for all.

French After School Class: Registration has been extended!

After-School French Class spots are still available! Due to snow days and ACPS days off, our French class will now start on Monday, January 29^th. We are ready to celebrate winter festivals with grades 1-5 on Mondays from 2:40-3:40.

Hollymead PTO Family Fun Fair, March 24^th

SAVE THE DATE! Mark your calendars for the Family Fun Fair on Saturday, March 24^th from 4:00pm-6:00pm! The Family Fun Fair is fun for all ages and will feature games, crafts, a bounce house, photo booth, refreshments, and more! Contact hollymeadptovolunteer@gmail.com with any questions.

A Note From Your PTO

President’s Message

Dear Hollymead Families,

The Board met last week to discuss a few details about upcoming PTO events, as well as review several grant requests. One highlight is that we were able to approve a request for a Sphero SPRK+ Power Pack. This pack contains 12 Sphero SPRK+ robots that will be used with ALL Hollymead students. Hollymead has been borrowing a similar pack from another school and this new pack will allow our students more flexible access to these amazing robots. Thank you to everyone who bought books at our Book Fair last October, as these proceeds helped us to pay for this pack (cost of $1,799.99) with the use of Scholastic Dollars earned through the event.
